History

Nothing is known about this work. Specifically, who the model was and whether or not this was a class assignment, or a subject of his own choosing. It is very possible that this drawing as well as others from this period (no. 000 Male Figure with Horse, no. 000 Self Portrait), were taken with Lack when he went to New York in search of an instructor. He mentioned he had a small portfolio of work he presented for entrance into Gammell’s studio. He most certainly brought along drawings from this period to show a prospective teacher.
